About This Bonsai

From the Clark Bonsai Museum’s Legacy Collection, this Pinus thunbergii was created and trained by Japanese-American artist.
Its elegant slanting form (shakan) captures the natural movement of trees shaped by wind and sun along coastal landscapes. The trunk rises powerfully at an angle while the crown balances in graceful tension — a hallmark of classic Japanese black pine styling.

This mature tree represents decades of refinement and cultural heritage. It is offered as part of our 10th Anniversary Collection Release, providing collectors an opportunity to own a living work of art from the museum’s lineage.
